The Tigers were 16 pins away from missing the cut and heading home after the qualifying round. But getting into the bracket field as the No. 8 seed was just fine. Catching fire at the right time, Armada knocked off top-seeded Cheboygan and never looked back. The Tigers went over 1300 pins in the quarterfinal, then did it again in the semifinal to turn back Birch Run. The final would be a nail-biter, as Armada scored a slim 15-point victory over No. 2-seeded Boyne City. It joins the 2015 squad among the boys bowling state champions in Armada history. The Tigers reached the state semifinals before falling to Ogemaw Heights a year ago, then came back strong this season, winning the regional and rolling into the finals. Earning the final spot for bracket play, the Tigers made their chance count in a big, big way.
