Congratulations to the boys and girls track and field teams for their stellar performances at the Macomb County Championships last Thursday in miserable rainy weather.
The girls ranked 3rd in the County- losing 2nd by one point. Division 2-3-4 County Champions included Mekenna McLean in pole vault, Alaina Carroll in 2-mile, Marz Bell in the 300 hurdles (who won the ENTIRE County!!) and the mile relay team of Bell, Olivia Hauler, Claudia Johns and Lauren Schramm (who narrowly lost the outright County championship to Anchor Bay). The 2-mile relay team of Emily Hayward, Julia Klinkman, Reilly Chodnicki and Tori Mabbitt were County runner ups.
The boys missed winning the County Championship by 2 points, but still had some great performances. Division 2-3-4 County Champions included Jackson Mahaffy in shot put, Devon LaHaie in the 800, Marcello Annoni in the 400, the mile relay team of Annoni, LaHaie, Trent Grabowski and Noah Chambers and the 2-mile relay team of Annoni, Chambers, LaHaie and Brennen Steinbauer. Other all-county performances included Noah Verlinde and Jack Albrecht in the 2-mile, Vince Steinbrink in long jump, the 800-relay team of LaHaie, Steinbrink, Grabowski and Corey Sutton and Dom Iafrate and Robbie Nowik in pole vault. Robbie tied the pole vault school record as well! Nice season to those not competing at the state finals this Saturday.
