The Armada’s boys varsity tennis team competed in the MHSAA Tennis Regional on Wednesday. There are three ways to advance to the state finals; finish either first or second as a team, or win 18 points. Armada finished third. and scored 13 points, so they do not advance as a team to play next week in the D-4 State Finals. Armada won points in 7 of 8 flights yesterday. Winning points for Armada in their final competition this season were 1st singles Nolan Hill, 2nd singles Parker, 3rd singles Jim Burns and 4th singles Jaret Hill. Doubles winners were: 3rd doubles Ty Vanlerberghe and Jacob Meerschaert, and 4th doubles Drew Blake and Nathan Merzlak. Winning 3 of Armada’s 13 points were 1st doubles Colton Smith and Jack Davis. Colton and Jack finished 2nd at 1st doubles and won regional 2nd place medals.
It was a great year for Armada’s boys tennis team, they had a winning dual meet record of 5-1-3. They won 3 of the four tournaments they entered, and finished 2nd in the other tournament. Still, the 2021 tennis team biggest accomplishment this year was winning the BWAC Boys Tennis Team League Championship. It was a great year team!
